Local repair
The offer of local floor repair is addressed to Customers who have purchased floors from our company.
Wood wears out over time. While this process can be slowed down by using oils and lacquers applied directly to the surface of the boards, it is often not a sufficient way to protect wooden floors from mechanical damage, such as caused by the impact of heavy or sharp objects, as well as from intensive use (resulting in characteristic wear and tear on the parquet). Locally damaged wood looks unsightly and is particularly vulnerable to external factors, including moisture. The parquet in this area will not tolerate spilled drinks well and even cleaning the floor; furthermore, tannins from the wood may react with certain liquids, resulting in unsightly discoloration and faster degradation. However, this is usually not the basis for costly replacement of the entire parquet with a new one. In most cases, only local repair of the damaged wooden floor is sufficient.
A damaged board in a wooden floor must be repaired as it will eventually lose its utility and mechanical properties, which can result in dimensional changes in the floor elements (including gapping and swelling) and their deformation.
Our employee will choose the most optimal way to renovate the wooden floor for you. The type of local repair depends, among other things, on the type of wood damage. Small cracks and scratches are repaired differently than larger dents and holes. In the case of small defects, with a width not exceeding two millimeters, a special parquet filler will be useful, which fills in small gaps while maintaining a uniform color that resembles adjacent wood. The damaged section only needs to be lightly sanded (we sand the whole section defined by the edges of the boards, not just the damaged area), cleaned of dust, and then a protective product is applied to it. If the damage is more serious and the hole/dent is larger, it will be necessary to use a wax to repair the defect and then thoroughly protect the board. However, in the case of very deep damage in a layered parquet, we recommend replacing the entire damaged element instead of renovating it.
Initially, local repair of a wooden floor may be visible. This is because boards exposed to sunlight and daily use change their color over time. By sanding the damaged board, the original color of the wood is revealed, so for some time the renovated element will stand out, but over time the visible differences will become less pronounced.
