Board exchange

Very often we encounter a situation when a Customer comes to us with a new floor, but one or several planks in it have been damaged. Such damages do not look aesthetically pleasing, but they are not a reason to replace the entire floor with a new one. Parkiet Studio also offers plank replacement services, provided that the Customer has spare planks of the same length and width left after the floor installation.

Our skilled craftsmen at Parkiet Studio will restore the former charm of your floor. The service starts with chiseling the damaged planks and removing any traces of glue from the subfloor. In the next step, a new plank for replacement must be carefully prepared. This is a quite time-consuming task, but the durability and stability of the parquet in the repaired area depend on it. Our technician will cut out the lower part of the new plank at its front and along its length, allowing him to utilize the tongues and grooves from the remaining floor planks.

One of the most challenging aspects of plank replacement is adjusting the height of the upper layer of the replaced plank to the height of the remaining part of the floor. Often, it is necessary to sand the underside of the new plank, but in some cases (especially with sharp-edged elements finished to perfection), this may not be sufficient to ensure that the surface after plank replacement is perfectly level to the fraction of a millimeter. Beveled planks provide the best results, as any height differences after replacing individual planks are almost imperceptible.

It is important to note that despite our best intentions, we cannot offer plank replacement services for floors that have been hand-lacquered, as removing individual planks may damage the lacquer surface. The same limitation applies to oiled floors, but here, it is possible to attempt repairing a damaged plank through localized sanding and re-oiling.

We always inform our customers that the replaced plank, although identical to the remaining part of the floor, will most likely stand out at the beginning. This is mainly due to the fact that wood changes its color under the influence of sunlight. Therefore, the old planks will look slightly different, but over time, this difference will fade, and at some point, it will become completely invisible.
